Subversion | 2007

Based on my interpretation of a randomly assigned street in Austin, I was instructed to find a word, which embodied my investigation of the space. I chose the word subversion because of the constant traffic, excessive plant growth, and deafening noise coming from the nearby construction site. After gathering all the type found in the space I began to make iterations involving the found typefaces and created the typeface seen above. We were then told to reintroduce the word into the space in any method, which seemed most appropriate. The act of adding graffiti to an already “subversive” space only added to the subversion of the area.
